Sprouts on Thanksgiving: Open or Shut? And What About Everywhere Else?

Alright, so it's Thanksgiving morning. You're elbow-deep in stuffing, Aunt Carol's already three sheets to the wind, and BAM! You realize you forgot the damn gravy. Happens to the best of us, right? But before you spiral into a full-blown holiday meltdown, let's get real about which Dallas-area stores are actually gonna be lifesavers on Thanksgiving 2025.

The Bare Minimum: Grocery Store SOS

First off, Sprouts. Yeah, they're open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Good for them, I guess. Albertsons, including Safeway and Tom Thumb, are hanging in there 'til 4 p.m. – not bad. Kroger's playing the hero too, but they're cutting out early at 5 p.m. Central Market in Texas? Open 'til 2 p.m. – so basically, you have a small window to salvage your holiday meal.

H-E-B, bless their Texas hearts, is open until noon, with curbside and home delivery options. Okay, that's actually pretty decent. But what if you're craving something a little more… Fiesta-y? Fiesta Mart's got your back 'til 7 p.m. – that's dedication right there. I almost respect that.

But seriously, why are we even doing this? Shouldn't these employees be home with their families instead of dealing with my cranberry sauce emergency? I mean, I get it, capitalism and all that, but give me a break.

Dollar Stores and Desperation

Dollar General? Mostly open, but hours vary. Dollar Tree? 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Family Dollar? The vast majority are supposedly open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., but that might not be true. Big Lots is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. So, yeah, if you're desperate for a last-minute inflatable turkey or a suspiciously cheap gravy boat, you know where to go.

CVS is kinda in the mix, open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. I can see it now; the fluorescent lights, the sad-looking candy aisle, and me, desperately searching for a can of cranberry sauce that isn't expired.

And offcourse Dunkin' and Starbucks are open, because America apparently can't survive a holiday without its caffeine fix. Krispy Kreme, too, surprisingly, until 2 p.m. – because nothing says Thanksgiving like a glazed donut.

The "Closed for Business" List

Now, let's talk about the stores that are giving their employees a day off – the responsible ones, maybe? ALDI, Costco, Target, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Home Depot, and Best Buy are all closed. Good. Maybe they realize that some things are more important than squeezing every last dollar out of the holiday season.

Walgreens is mostly closed, except for the 24-hour locations. So if you need some questionable gas station sushi at 3 a.m. on Thanksgiving, you know where to go.

So, What's the Real Story Here?

Look, I get it. We all forget things. We all have those moments of panic when we realize we're missing a crucial ingredient. But maybe, just maybe, we should all try to be a little more organized next year and let these retail workers enjoy their damn Thanksgiving. Just a thought.
